Started in 1932 by Ray Whimmer as Overhead Door Company of Toledo,™ Sandusky,™ Findlay™, we’re proud to be the oldest operating garage door company in Toledo, Ohio. Over the years, our company has evolved and expanded to better serve homeowners, builders, and businesses across Toledo, Findlay, Sandusky, Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan areas.

1932 — Ray Whimmer founded The Overhead Door Company of Toledo™, building a foundation rooted in quality products and dependable service.
1982 — Under owner Lee Huss, the company expanded with the launch of the fireplace division, originally designed to serve the builder community. Today, Fireside Hearth & Home of Toledo sells industry-leading products supported by our own factory-trained, certified installers and service technicians.
1986 — In partnership with Kevin Krabach, the window and entry door division was established and continues to operate under Kevin’s management today as Architect’s Choice.
1996 — We opened our first showroom to better display and serve both the builder and retail markets. Around the same time, BBQ grills and patio furniture were added as a counter-seasonal offering to complement the fireplace division.
1999 — Lee’s son Mark Huss opened a commercial roofing and sheet metal operation. Today, Overhead Roofing & Sheet Metal is a reliable source for commercial roof repairs and service—and a proud Master Installer of Duro-Last roofing.
2007 — We expanded into the Sandusky market. Today, Fireside Hearth & Home of Sandusky serves the surrounding area’s garage door and fireplace needs.
2012 — Ownership transitioned to Michael Huss, who continues to serve as President and represents the 4th generation of family ownership.
2021 — Overhead Door Company of Toledo,™ Sandusky,™ Findlay™ celebrated 100 years of service.
