Traditional Steel Garage Doors

Traditional Steel Collection Garage Doors

Need a new garage door without the sticker shock of a custom or premium collection? The Traditional Steel line is the durable, reliable option with a selection of trusted, quality garage doors. This collection offers doors with clean panel styles that fit almost any home, backed by the same steel construction and craftsmanship Overhead Door has built its name on since 1932.

Every Traditional Steel door starts with hot-dipped galvanized steel and two coats of baked-on polyester paint for a clean, low-maintenance finish, reinforced for durability in either a standard raised-panel design or a long-panel look. From there, the five models break into two groups depending on what your garage needs:

Non-insulated models — best for detached or unheated garages
  • Model 1400 — the most accessible entry point in the collection, backed by a 15-Year Limited warranty.
  • Model 1440 — adds heavy-duty steel construction over Model 1400, backed by a Limited Lifetime warranty.
Insulated models — best for attached garages or year-round comfort
  • Model 1500 — polystyrene insulation with an R-value of 7.4, vinyl backing, and a 20-Year Limited warranty.
  • Model 1540 — the same 7.4 R-value insulation plus heavy-duty steel construction, backed by a Limited Lifetime warranty.
  • Model 1600 — the top of the line, with a tested U-factor of 0.23, an R-value of 9.8, and durable steel backing (rather than vinyl), backed by a Limited Lifetime warranty.
All models are available in a five-color palette including white, almond, taupe/sandstone, brown, and black with an embossed wood-grain texture on every finish. Window styles and decorative hardware are available to personalize the look, and WindStorm™ wind load-rated options are available on select models for homes that need added protection against high winds.

What’s the difference between the Traditional Steel Collection and the Impression Steel Collection?

Both are steel garage doors, but they’re built for different priorities. Traditional Steel is our most affordable line, with 5 models ranging from non-insulated to R-9.8 insulated, ideal if you want a reliable, classic-style door at the best price. The Impression Steel Collection steps up with foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation (R-12) and larger, bolder panel sections designed to make more of a visual statement on your home. If budget is the priority, Traditional Steel is the better starting point. However, if insulation performance or a more dramatic look matters more, Impression Steel is worth a look.
